Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall betting is illegal. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel complex that features numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
