Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, contains 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel building that highlights a number of luxuries in addition to the casino, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 tables.
